The city of Napoli lies some 230 kilometers south of the eternal city of Rome. It was built on the western side of the Mediterranean, in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

It is considered to be the capital of Southern Italy. The climate there is pleasant year-round! When gazing towards Naples from the island of procida, Ischia and Capri, the city appears as a huge crescent curving around its day. Mount Vesuvius stands tall in the background

Vesuvius is the only active volcano on the continent of Europe. Occasionally, smoke curls from its top, as if to remind Neapolitans that it is still alive!

Vesuvius erupted and buried under bubbling lava of the Roman towns of Herculaneum and Pompei in 79 A.D. In Naples today singing in the public fills the neighborhood piazzas at night. The food is based on traditional macaroni and spaghetti recipes that are centuries old. Legend also has it that a baker from Naples invented one of America’s favorite foods, “pizza”, in the 1700s.
